Who Told you No you can’t do that?

Who Told you No you can’t do that?

After completing my second open water Scuba dive, I am amazed that I just believed what I was told and never even tried.  As a child and adult, I had a history of severe ear infections with ear drum perforations in each ear over 10 times.  As a young adult I asked many times about being able to Scuba Dive and the doctor always would say no way, unless you want to be deaf.  Well, clearly that leaves you little choice or does it?

Here on Grand Bahama Island Hugh was diving with Grand Bahama Scuba with Fred the operator of the shop with more than 50 years of diving experience.  Hugh shared my story and Fred said he I don’t thinks that is true.  I believe that she can dive!  Hugh came back from his dive and told me his conversation.  I was in awe.  I signed up for a Discovery Session in the pool and one open water dive.  That was last Sunday, I completed the pool dive and followed Fred’s instructions in preparation perfectly.  Then after a break we headed out to the reef.  I followed Fred into the water and followed the line to the mooring anchor.  Stopping to clear several times.  I sat on the bottom and looked up taking it all in, the sun rays, sparkling, fish were swimming about, and there I was!  Me underwater, breathing just fine, no pain just utter awe.  Fred was my “buddy”, I had a bit of trouble with me and the BC and then we swam.  Barely moving through the water, with a slight flutter kick, just taking in the underwater movie before me.  Fish were so close swimming with me.  We traveled around the reef and saw some very healthy areas and others that had died.   Before I knew it we were back at the mooring and it was time to go up, so slowly we ascended.  Then the hard part getting on the boat with the equipment on.  Up the ladder onto the platform, and onto the boat.  I had done something I never thought possible for so long, 50 years.  I believed it was not possible.  Anyone who knows me will find this story a bit out of the ordinary, because I am a “risk taker”.   A person who has always been athletic, played sports, snow skied, water skied, sailed, raced, traveled across the country alone in 1979 in my Dodge Omni.  In 2019, I met Mary Morrissey – a trailblazer, a “DreamBuilder”, a woman who studied transformation, metaphysics, psychology, and education. In late 2018,  I decided to study to become a Certified Life Coach with the Brave Thinking Life Mastery Coaching program.  I completed my original certification in March 2019, and secondary in September 2019.  As a Coach I hear and see others doing exactly what I had done.  It was so ingrained like cement in me that I truly never ventured the thought that it was possible.  As I Coach and living this amazing lifestyle living my dream sailing, I realized maybe it is possible.  I am 65 years young - why not just do it see what happens - because that was my history, why not have it be possible now.  I have now completed two open water dives, two pool trainings, and I am on my way to getting my Open Water Certification.   Don’t do what I did, or if you have so what, just do what it is you that you would love.  I am so grateful for the support of my husband, kids and especially Fred & Melinda who calmly said yes, we believe it is possible.  Whatever “it” is for you, if you have that longing, then take the leap follow that desire and do it!
