NEWS FLASH - STARLINK firsthand experience
STARLINK – https://www.starlink.com/
What is it? Starlink provides high-speed, low-latency broadband internet across the globe. Within each coverage area, orders are fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis. Starlink is the world's first and largest satellite constellation using a low Earth orbit to deliver broadband internet capable of supporting streaming, online gaming, video calls and more.
Leveraging advanced satellites and user hardware coupled with our deep experience with both spacecraft and on-orbit operations, Starlink delivers high-speed, low-latency internet to users all over the world.
Does it work? Yes, and if you review the coverage map, we are 450 miles South of what is stated as coverage. Our average upload time is: 50MB per second Our average download: 150 MB per second.
NOTE: If we are in an anchorage that is terribly rollie, rough, boomeranging then we have occasional short disconnects, but immediately reconnects.
COST: $135.00 per month, One time Equipment charge: $600.00
Simple Installation: if you can read and follow 5 steps on a single sheet of paper, with pictures, you can install Starlink
Sailing/Boating Cruisers: The RV version is perfect, it is mobile, we are still researching mounting possibilities, and so our “Dishy” sits on the bow of the boat, and we do secure her.
IN-MOTION USE
The new Flat High Performance Starlink allows users to enjoy high-speed, low-latency internet while in-motion.
With a wide field of view and enhanced GPS capabilities, the Flat High Performance Starlink can connect to more satellites, allowing for consistent connectivity on the go.
The hardware is designed for a permanent installation on your vehicle and is resilient in harsh environments.
Currently available for order and use in select markets.
PORTABLE USE
The Standard Starlink is designed for portable use at any destination where Starlink has active coverage. With an easy setup and break down, Starlink delivers high-speed, low latency internet access within minutes, and packs up quickly when its time to move to your next destination.
The Standard Starlink is not made for in-motion use. For more information on Starlink coverage areas, see the Starlink Coverage Map.
WORK AND PLAY AT REMOTE LOCATIONS
Starlink for RVs is ideal for customers travelling to locations where connectivity has been unreliable or completely unavailable.
Users can expect high speed, low latency internet in areas marked "High Capacity", and notably slower speeds during hours of peak usage in areas marked as "Low Capacity" or during events with many collocated users.
So, our vote, is a “resounding YES!”
